Great bike poorly assembled., 02.10.2022
Author:
Upon arrival, the chainring was so bent that it would rub on the derailleur. I could easily see it wobbling as I pedaled. I think the crankset was installed so incorrectly, that it's completely ruined.

Two of the bolts that clamp the handlebars were cross-threaded so badly I had to use a thread tap to fix the holes before the bolts would go in again.

Finally, the hydraulic brake hose was wrapped around the derailleur cable inside the frame, so every time I shifted, it was wearing through the brake hose. Eventually this would have punctured the brake line, or broken the cable, if I hadn't caught it.

When you buy a new bike, it should be ready to ride. It shouldn't be broken and it definitely shouldn't be UNSAFE. I am a mechanic, so I have an eye for small details, but it worries me what could be wrong with bikes they're sending out to normal people. This is totally unacceptable and needs to stop.

A great bike with great components becomes a terrible bike if it's assembled by someone who isn't experienced enough, or simply doesn't care about the work they're doing.
